Marianne's mission is to bring mindfulness and yoga practices to school settings and communities in her area, for the benefit of the student and the school/community they live in.  She believes that this is a time of great challenge and opportunity for children growing up in today’s world, and that these practices can prepare children (and grown-ups) to meet these challenges with compassion, kindness, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and confidence-skills that will last a life time, and serve both the children and the communities they are a part of.

Her work with preschoolers with disabilities as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 17 years inspired her to pursue certifications as a Children’s Yoga Teacher, as over the years, children coming into preschool programs demonstrated more and more challenges that were related to mental health, stress and anxiety. As an integral part of multi-disciplinary preschool special education teams, focus was on the whole child. Her experience includes creating sensory-friendly environments, both physical (as in classroom set-up) and internal, (as in our attitudes and intentions regarding the children served).

Marianne is a life-long learner.  Her training spans decades and includes a Physical Therapist Assistant Degree from Genesee Community College, NY,  NDT and Sensory Treatment in Pediatrics, Bonnie Hanchu's Creating Sensory Environments, DIR/Floortime Model Workshop (Greenspan), Ready Approach, Sensory Processing&Making Connections, Neuroanatomy of Learning Disabilities, Kidding Around Yoga-Children’s Yoga Teacher, Yoga for Autism, ADHD, and Differently-Abled Children, Classroom and Therapeutic Tools to Enhance Learning, Radiant Child/Family Yoga Teacher Training , Educate-2-B Training, Sensory and Behavior: Comprehensive Approach to Addressing Challenging Behaviors, Veriditas Labyrinth Meditation Facilitator Training, Grounded Kids Yoga Teacher Training, Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training (RCYoga) and Little Flower Yoga’s secular Yoga and Mindfulness Training for public schools.  In January of 2019, Marianne earned the distinction of E-RYT (experienced registered yoga teacher) with Yoga Alliance.

A Personal Note from Marianne:

As a child I was a nervous quirky little girl who grew into a nervous quirky little lady. I was that kid who was shy, hyper-vigilant, disengaged, and leery toward life. Even though I grew up with lots of love in my home, I couldn’t wait to be a grown-up, as being a child was stressful, scary, and full of anxiety.

I remember walking to school in first grade with an upset stomach nearly every day. Nobody talked about anxiety, no one offered a way for me to feel grounded and safe.  It wasn't until I learned and practiced the tools of yoga and mindfulness as an adult and put them to use in my life before I found relief.

I recognize this in kids and adults alike, it tugs at my heart-strings, and inspires me share what I learned through my own personal transformation.

I have to say that these mind/body practices are easy, and are the favorite part of my day. It’s easy to do every day because the benefits, although very subtle, are also very profound. In the moment, I have the immediate benefit of feeling better right now!!! And what I’ve noticed over time was that my nervous system was getting re-trained so that my “default setting” of anxiety was fading, and my “default setting” of being calm and centered was stronger and stronger.
